Going in new directions

I have taken the advice of my current beta reader (she knows who she is:D), and have decided to get back into the swing of publishing.  One thing about tackling the healing of self both in mind and body is to live like your world is before you.  She has graciously offered to beta my work before submission, which is a good thing as I am expanding my horizons and visions and will need someone with a keen eye to polish the attempts.

The Harp & Sword Chronicles will be revamped (as in: expanded and revised.  My beta will only have to focus on the new prologue.)  Some technical issues arose this last week while spending time with my friend D.B. James, who graciously pointed out some flaws on a technical level in dealing with fantasy magick and when not to take it too far.  I was content to let the scene ride as is, until D.B. brought up the topic and it began to niggle at me to make it better.  (Sometimes you want to hush up those niggle-bugs, because of the rewrites they require you to make.  On the other hand, and the hand that is most reliable, the niggle-bugs can come to the rescue, if you but allow them their place and not hedge, hem or haw too much under their aggravating glare.  As bad as a ruler slap on the hand, but not painful in the tactile area, just the area where you need to steer from point A to point B and get there in one piece, thus the ruler is an apt analogy.)

So, with that being sad, H & S is doing well under the overhauling.  It's standing up true to form and better, if I may say so myself, than ever before.

It may take some time getting it back out there, but that's all right.  I...have time.  Cancer be damned back to hell from whence it came.

(Bows to the left, right, and middle.  Thank you.)

Those who know my real name and belong to that FB page, mum is the word on this.  I have friends and family who do not know this side of my existence and I prefer to keep it that way.  Thanks!

Blessed Be

Gearing up for Harp & Sword...

I am immensely inspired.  In the over a year that I've been out of commission, I've seen an incredible leap of M/M authors and novels out there.  Some authors are just very prolific and that is what I want to discuss here.

Lynn Lorenz, Carol Lynne, Ariel Tachna and a host of other authors I have found have made writing their life.  Proving that writing on the side, for those of us who have day jobs, can lead to bigger and better things!

Imagination is the key.  My mind is so bogged down with 'reality' that I have literally 'forgotten' what it means to imagine worlds as a child would.  To create and go anywhere the mind wants to take me.

If you are a writer, and you are stuck in a limited view of ideas, force yourself to expand.  Play act, I am serious.  Get action figure dolls if that's what it takes.  Set up models on a table.  If you can't draw, draw stick figures and do a story board.  Invest the time in exercising your imagination.  Put yourself in another world, become your characters.  Act out the scenes.  Don't care what it looks like, you'll be by yourself, so who's gonna know?  Do it.  I promise it will reap rewards.  Become a child in your mind.  Not on the basis of the sexual angle, that's not what I'm saying.  I'm saying remember what it was like to imagine as a child and how you play acted all the time, wrote stories, told stories to your friends or siblings or parents.  Sure they probably said, "Oh, isn't that cute?"  But take it to the next step.

Enjoy the worlds you create.  Let them invade your thoughts, Paint images, talk to you, be one with the story line.  I am inspired.  Where I thought my life this last year was a battle to live, I now feel energized and can see myself as a writer, churning out story after story.  Imagine the worlds...and they will be born.

Get to it.  You've got a story to write, and if possible, hundreds of stories to write.  Life is good.

Write on!
